Reporteros sin Fronteras ha publicado la Segunda clasificación mundial de la libertad de prensa .
Entre los 166 paises la Unión Europea se encuenta bien clasificada, salvo Italia y España que ocupan las posiciones 53 y 42. Según la organización la mala situación española se debe a "dificultades que tienen los periodistas en el País Vasco". En los primeros puestos se situan los países escandinavos. Destacan también la situación cubana: "Penúltima en la clasificación, Cuba es hoy la mayor cárcel del mundo para los periodistas"
