Siempre que se habla de que el Software Libre (no linux) no esta listo para el usuario final me gustaría que tuvieras en cuenta algunas cosas como:

** En Extremadura ya lo usa el 20% de la población habitualmente (más de tres veces al mes y en algunos caso 120.000 alumnos más de 5 horas diarias) y el input de los usuarios es que están igual o más contentos que con otros sistemas operativos.

** Esto se esta extendiendo ya a Andalucia y al menos 3 autonomías más lo tienen en sus planes a corto.

** La penetracion en el mercado de usuario es muy lenta. A la empresa que actualmente tiene la mayor cuota de mercado le ha costado 10 años, muchos contratos y algunos juicios llegar.

Y lo que si tengo claro es que esta listo para los usuarios tanto como cualquier S.O. Ahora la situación de los S.O. es una verguenza que tenemos que mejorar muchisimo. En los últimos 30 años no se han innovado practicamente nada y los usuarios lo han aguantado estóicamente.

Perdonad mi intromisión. Yo no soy ningún experto en informática pero soy usuario de Linux desde hace ya algún tiempo. Y leyendo parece que el escritorio lo inventó Microsoft, que no existían navegadores antes del Explorer o que MS Office sea la única suite ofimática comprensible para un usuario corriente. Parece que yo no pueda usar clientes de correo, reproductores de video, CD o mp3. Que en mí ordenador la edición y manipulación de imágenes 2 y 3D sea algo impensable. Pero si, ya ven, sí que puedo. Como también puedo compartir ficheros por internet, chatear con los amiguetes, hablar o verles por videoconferencia. Por supuesto que donde esté KDE, en mi modesta opinión, que se quiten otros. Por cierto, que múltiples escritorios en una misma sesión, o varias sesiones de escritorio abiertas a un tiempo (incluso de escritorios diferentes -KDE, GNOME, WMaker, etc) no es un invento de Microsoft en su aporte al apasionante mundo del entorno amigable. Y el que se crea que hay que escribir líneas interminables de comandos para la instalación, o atender a ncurses en inglés para poder disfrutar de un sistema funcional y libre (por no añadir la coletilla no siempre bien vista de gratuito) que se instale una Mandrake y verá que sorpresa se lleva. Yo, de momento, sigo tan contento con mi Debian.

- El entorno gráfico con menus y ratón (que tenía 5 botones) lo inventaron los informáticos de Xerox hace muuuuchos años (y no sobre DOS precisamente). - Una persona que no entiende de ordenadores no se aclara ni delante de un Linux en modo texto ni delante de un windows XP. Los escritorios como KDE y GNOME son hoy en día para tontos (una vez instalado y configurados los dispositivos), pudiendo elegir diferentes interfaces, por ejemplo la de Windows. Y eso, gratis.
- Lo único bueno no sólo para si misma que ha hecho últimamente (10 años) Microsoft es el ASP.NET. Verdaderamente, es más fácil y rápido programar con eso. ¿Por qué? Porque se le están subiendo a la chepa Linux, C y C++, el PHP, java, etc. Ahora comienza a no ser suficiente con ser el comerciante más mafioso del planeta, ahora tiene que competir en calidad. Que Microsoft comience a esmerarse en lo que hace y no en a quién putea se lo debemos a Linux.
- Hay muchos carros de los que ir a remolque: el de la innovación, el de la libertad, el de la justicia, Microsoft tira del carro de la esclavitud económica y legal. Mucho me temo que cuando ASP.NET esté bien estendido comiencen a pegar barapalos con licencias y juicios.
